Confirmed, Baqueira/Beret will remain open!
Baqueira/Beret and the rest of the Catalan ski resorts will remain open during the extension of the closure.
The ten Catalan Alpine ski resorts will remain open for the next two weeks, during which the municipal confinement of Catalonia has been extended. This was confirmed today by questions from journalists to the president of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Ricard Font.
Ricard Font has not only referred to publicly owned resorts -La Molina, Vallter 2000, Vall de Núria, Port Ainé, Espot, Boí Taüll and Tavascan-, but also to privately owned ones -Baqueira/Beret, Masella and Port del Comte-.
All of them will continue to operate until February 7 as at present, only for skiers from the municipalities in which they are located and under minimum conditions.
The president of FGC has explained that this decision has been taken by consensus among the Catalan stations. This was already done at the time of the opening and he added that if at some point the closure is not foreseen, it will also be done jointly.
Font trusts that the measures will be relaxed at least until the regional confinement and this can return part of the activity to the ski resorts.
